Spring Shredding Event in Lower Macungie Township

Lower Macungie Township, Rep. Ryan Mackenzie and I will be hosting a Document Shredding Event to help residents safely and securely dispose of paperwork containing personal information to help prevent identity theft.

The event will be held on Saturday, May 8, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lower Macungie Township Complex, 3402 Brookside Road, Macungie, PA 18062.

During the event, the public is invited to shred up to four boxes (10”x12.5”x16”) or equivalent (the approximate size of carry-on luggage) of sensitive documents per vehicle. The shredding event is for items that contain information such as bank account or Social Security numbers. Please do not bring old phone books, magazines, birthday cards, folders, newspapers, junk mail, etc., as these items can be recycled at the curb. You do not have to remove any staples or paper clips, but please take documents out of binders and notebooks.

In addition, attendees are asked to follow these guidelines:

  • Event participants must stay in their vehicles.
  • All shredding materials must be placed in the trunk or truck bed area of the vehicle, not the backseat, prior to arrival. Event staff will unload materials while residents remain in their vehicles.

Proper COVID-19 mitigation protocols will be in place. Due to the overwhelming popularity of the shredding event, we would like to remind residents that we will not begin accepting items for shredding before the start time. This event is for residents only. No businesses, please.

I hope to see you on Saturday, May 8th!
