Sen. Browne and Rep. Day Secure Infrastructure Funding for Important Trail Project in Weisenberg Township

Weisenberg Township has been awarded $130,000 from the State’s Multimodal Transportation Fund for Phase 2 of its trail connectivity program. I was pleased to work with Representative Gary Day to secure these funds for this important local project.

Plans for Phase 2 of the trail connectivity program centers on the building of a pedestrian crossing, which will connect the Weissenberg Athletic Fields trail into the existing sidewalks at the Weisenberg Elementary School, creating a safe passage for pedestrians traveling between the athletic fields and the school.

“We are very pleased that Senator Browne and Representative Day were able to secure a Multimodal Transportation Fund grant to assist with Phase 2 of our trail project,” Brian Carl, Weissenberg Township Manager, said. “When completed, the trail will provide a safe solution for pedestrian and bicycle travel, especially for students and young athletes as they travel between Weisenberg Elementary School and the athletic fields.”

Completion of local projects, like this one, helps to rebuild, improve and expand infrastructure and build upon the already high quality of life we have come to enjoy in our communities. Funding from the state helps to support these projects without adding to already strained municipal budgets.
