Sen. Browne and Rep. Mackenzie Secure Infrastructure Funding for Important Macungie Borough Project

Macungie Borough has been awarded $435,000 from the State’s Multimodal Transportation Fund to begin Phase V of their ongoing Main Street Streetscape Improvement plan. I was pleased to work with Representative Ryan Mackenzie to secure these funds for this important local project.

The project aims to calm traffic and improve safety while providing a pedestrian-friendly downtown corridor along this heavily traveled route. This phase is a key part of the Borough’s Main Street revitalization efforts and will provide additional street lighting, trees and pavers up to the end of Chestnut Street. Previously, Representative Mackenzie and I collaborated to secure state funding for Macungie’s Main Street improvements, including Multimodal funding for the completion of Phases III and IV of the streetscape program.

“This grant will be used to continue the Downtown Macungie Borough Streetscape Improvements,” John Yerman, Macungie Borough Council President. “The original plan for these Improvements was defined by a citizens’ group several years ago and it is great to have additional funding to continue the implementation.  We appreciate the help of Senator Browne and Representative Mackenzie in securing the funding for the next phase.”

Completion of local projects, like this one, helps to rebuild, improve and expand infrastructure and build upon the already high quality of life we have come to enjoy in our communities. Funding from the state helps to support these projects without adding to already strained municipal budgets.
