Sen. Browne and Rep. Schweyer Secure Infrastructure Funding for Allentown Project

The City of Allentown has been awarded $650,000 from the State’s Multimodal Transportation Fund for Street Lighting improvements to be made along Mack Boulevard. I was pleased to work with Representative Pete Schweyer to secure these funds for this important local project.

The improvements are part of a larger city-driven effort to revitalize the Mack Boulevard corridor and expand walkability. The project will replace existing light poles from Emmaus Avenue to Trout Creek with 47 new LED streetlights. Completion of the project will enable consistent lighting to illuminate the roadway and immediate roadside, improving visibility for drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians on this corridor.

Completion of local projects, like this one, helps to rebuild, improve and expand infrastructure and build upon the already high quality of life we have come to enjoy in our communities. Funding from the state helps to support these projects without adding to already strained municipal budgets.
