LEHIGH COUNTY – December 2, 2019- Senate Appropriations Chairman Pat Browne congratulates DeSales University on being named a 2019 “Guard-Friendly School” by the Pennsylvania National Guard Associations (PNGAS).
Thirty Pennsylvania colleges and universities have earned the inaugural PNGAS Guard-Friendly School designation.
Developed by the PNGAS Education Advisory Council, the PNGAS Guard-Friendly School standards are designed to recognize colleges, universities and trade schools which meet or exceed ten criteria that create a supportive learning environment to assist members of the Pennsylvania Guard pursuing post-secondary degrees.
“The men and women of the Pennsylvania National Guard can face unique challenges when pursuing their higher educational goal,” Senator Browne said. “I applaud DeSales’ commitment to supporting our National Guard members and helping to ensure that they have the access and opportunities that they have earned and deserve.”
PNGAS is a non-profit organization with the mission of supporting the Pennsylvania National Guard and its members by promoting the Guard and its efficient functioning and organization, advocating policies that will advance its well-being, fostering and improving it with cooperation and joint programs for officers and enlisted personnel. The Association’s efforts are overseen by a board of directors and consist of two organizations; the National Guard Association of Pennsylvania (NGAPA) and the Pennsylvania National Guard Enlisted Association (PNGEA). PNGAS is dedicated to the 19,438 members and more than 67,500 veterans of the Pennsylvania National Guard and their families.
