Certificate of Appreciation Available to Korean War Veterans

Senator Browne announces application process

Korean War veterans who served their country honorably may be eligible for a Certificate of Appreciation from the United State Secretary of Defense, according to Senator Pat Browne.

A veteran who served in Korea between June 25, 1950 and July 27, 1953 may be eligible for this citation, which is signed by the Secretary of Defense.

“Those who served in Korea, like those who have served and continue to serve all over the world, have put their lives on the line to protect and defend our country,” Senator Browne said. “It is wonderful that the United States Secretary of Defense is recognizing these brave men and women for their selfless and dedicated service to our country.”

In order to receive the certificate, a veteran must submit the following information: Veteran’s full legal name as used on their military records; current mailing address; branch of service; rank at time of service in Korea; and, the general time period of service in Korea. It can be mailed to KW60 Committee, 526 Lafayette Avenue, Palmerton, PA 18071-1621.

Veterans’ posts may also consolidate a list of their members who served in Korea and send it in at one time.
