Sen. Browne, Rep. Dally to Hold Identity Theft and Cyber Safety ForumSen. Pat Browne (R-16) and Rep. Craig Dally (R-138) are hosting an Identity Theft and Cyber Safety Forum from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, at the Hanover Township Community Center at 3660 Jacksonville Road in Bethlehem. The program will include a presentation by the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General on the types of scams and frauds perpetrated by criminals, often targeting senior citizens. The presentation will also help seniors and parents understand the dangers of surfing the Internet. "This forum will help people understand the real dangers that are out there, what to look for and how to prevent criminals from taking advantage of them," Browne said. "Criminals find new and innovative ways to steal information and identities. The more people know about the signs of identity theft, the safer they, their children and their identities will be." This forum will provide tips on how to protect children from cyber bullying and sexual predators, how to protect their personal information online, how to prevent identity theft and what to do in the event their identity is stolen. "While computers have enhanced our lives in many ways, the criminal element has also found ways to use modern technology to harm others and to illegally gain financial benefits," Dally said. "An educated public is the best defense against these crimes." Senator Browne and Representative Dally encourage senior citizens and parents to attend this free and informational forum to learn more about identity theft and cyber crime. For more information or to register for the forum, please contact Doris Stearns at Senator Browne's Allentown office at (610) 821-8468 or Marcia Hahn at Rep. Dally's Nazareth office (610) 746-2100.
