Beyer and Browne Present Check to Community Commitment Inc.HARRISBURG – Rep. Karen Beyer (R-Lehigh/Northampton) and Sen. Patrick Browne (R-Lehigh/Monroe/Northampton), presented a $10,000 check in Allentown on Friday, April 13th to Community Commitment, Inc. to assist in there on going Latino outreach efforts to help at-risk youth and their families in the Lehigh Valley. "The work done on a daily basis by Community Commitment is critical in helping families," Beyer said. "This funding will help provide in-home family therapy, counseling and other services to help make lives better, and to help young people believe in themselves and put them in a position to succeed in life." Community Commitment is a non-profit, private outreach counseling program for at-risk youth and their families. They also provide an initiative called the Circle of Care, which is a Latino outreach that provides in-home therapy, counseling, education and life skills training for targeted at-risk youth and family members. The check represents a combination of $5,000 each from the House and Senate. "This represents a commitment by our respective chambers to continue our efforts to help young people and their families," said Browne. "Community Commitment, Inc. is one of the only programs of its type remaining in the Lehigh Valley. It is important that we help programs like this continue to provide vital services." "A prime issue for us as lawmakers is the care and education of our children," said Beyer. "This program is an outstanding example of how lives can be turned around, and we are proud to be able to help in this great mission." Members of Community Commitment are flaked on the left by Rep. Karen Beyer (R-Lehigh/Northampton), and on the right by Sen. Patrick Browne (R-Lehigh/Monroe/Northampton) during a check presentation.
