Monroe County Receives Hazardous Waste Grant$16,013 earmarked to operate collection programMonroe County will receive a $16,013 state grant to operate a household hazardous waste collection program, according to state Senator Pat Browne. The money is provided through the Pennsylvania Small Business and Household Pollution Prevention Program administered by the state Department of Environmental Protection. The grant will cover half of the cost of developing and operating a household hazardous waste collection program in Blakeslee. "It is surprising how many items we have around our homes that would be considered as hazardous wastes, such as paint," Senator Browne said. "This program will give residents of Monroe County a safe way to dispose of those items and also prevent them from ending up in a municipal waste landfill."
